Your New Zealand vacation begins in Auckland, where you'll spend 2 nights in a 3-star downtown hotel, close to all the shopping, the Harbour and nightlife.
On day two, you'll discover Waiheke Island. This stunning island just off the Auckland coast boasts 35 square miles of beautiful beaches, vineyards, olive groves, native bush and laid back seaside villages. Sample some of the best vineyards Waiheke has to offer on this vineyard tour. A light lunch will be served at picturesque Stonyridge.
You'll pick up your compact automatic car rental on day three and head to Rotorua - center of the Maori culture in New Zealand, and a geothermal wonderland. Tonight you will witness an authentic introduction to Maori culture leaving you amazed and in awe with a cultural performance and a traditionally cooked hangi feast.
From Rotorua you head to Napier, on the North Island's east coast. Napier is considered the Art Deco Capital of the world, surrounded by the vineyards of Hawke’s Bay. You'll enjoy a 1.5 hour guided evening walking tour through the Art Deco quarter. The next day you'll drive to Wellington - New Zealand's capital, where you'll stay for 2 nights.
On day six take an unforgettable guided journey around the city's dramatic highlights. You will travel around the earthquake-scarred South Coast to see the site of the Wahine Ferry disaster and the distant ranges of the South Island. Enjoy views of the harbor from the top of Mount Victoria and ride the steep cable car up to an incredible, far-reaching panorama. Visit the Parliament Buildings and the famous Beehive and see the gorgeous, timber-built Old St Paul's Cathedral. Next up you will visit the national museum Te Papa and experience the mix of Maori and European history amid the nation's natural and cultural treasures before returning to your central city hotel.
On your last day in the North Island, return your rental car to Wellington Airport.
